Box Three P9 X-Wide Multi Shift Groupset
Our Box Three tier delivers many of the same capabilities of its more famous siblings yet it's built upon a simpler platform. Cassettes are accessible at 11-46T or 11-50T and fashioned with steel spiders. The derailleur exploits our Limited Slip clutch technology without the Tri-pack features. Shift easily with a comparable mechanism, although you'll forgo the hinged clamp and die-cast structure. And lastly, string it all together with a Prime 9 chain but without extravagant coatings. If you're looking to bring your 2/3 by bike into the 21st century, then level up with this group!

Q: Can I install this on my bike that uses a b-link for my current derailleur?
A: Yes! All you need to do is remove your old derailleur and the b-link leaving the standard hanger attached to your bike frame. You can now mount your Box Components derailleur directly to the hanger on your frame.
Q: Can I install this on my bike that currently has a direct mount hanger?
A: Possibly, you will need to see if your frame manufacturer or a third party like wheelsMFG offers a standard mount hanger for your frame.
Q: Will Box be making cassettes compatible with XD or Microspline driver bodies?
A: At this time our cassettes are only compatible with HG style MTB 8/9/10 speed or road 11 speed driver bodies. Most hub manufacturers offer the different
Please see page 6 of our guide for notes regarding the 2 HG drivers.
Q: Can I use X crankset with Prime 9?
A: We recommend 1 by specific cranksets to achieve proper chainline and performance. The crankset you choose will depend on your bike frame and budget.
Q: Can I use my standard chainring with your Prime 9 drivetrain?
A: For the best performance and chain retention we recommend you use a narrow wide 11 speed chainring. This will best match the internal geometry of our chains and provide you with the best riding experience. These are some of the brands we recommend, Wolftooth Components, Raceface, One Up Components, Absolute Black.
So far so good
Only found out about Box Components from watching Berm Peak videos, decided to give them a try for my 12yr old twins bikes. They race mountain bikes in MISCA and needed the extra climbing gears. So, we upgraded from a Shimano 1x7 to these Box 3 P9 x-wide drivetrains and haven't had any issues so far. They love the new drivetrain and how quick and easy it shifts.
Derailleur too fragile
The cassette and shifter are fine. My mistake for not pulling in the high-limit enough, but I got the derailleur inside the big gear, and then the b-limit-screw slipped off its skinny stop-platform. Then the b-limit-screw broke off, and I cannot drill it out. I think the derailleur would be a lot more durable if the b-limit stopper-platform was wider like the box-two derailleur, which I had to buy as a replacement. I advise buyers to either be gentle, or stick with the box-two derailleur.

Unique, Okay Performance, Great Customer Support
Good for the price. It's a unique product within the industry, so that's great. Tuning is tricky and much more sensitive than I expected. Shifting is a bit clucky, which is hard to avoid at this price point, being the bottom end of the Box line, and having such a large range (I've run a Box 1, 11 speed, on another bike and was very impressed). Overall, this is a good budget option for extending gear range, but don't expect high end performance. Box support has also been incredible, 5 stars on that front.
Brought my old DH bike to life as a better daily rider. No more hiking my bike uphill, just ride it out with enough low range but plenty of gear selection to still run downhill. Love the shifter stiffness for preventing accidental shifts too!
